JEE Main 2023 Session 2 Result: 43 Candidates Score 100 Percentile, Only One Girl Among Them

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results of JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Main 2023 Session 2 on Friday. A total of 43 candidates scored a perfect 100 percentile in the overall merit list based on their performance in both session 1 and session 2.

Of these 43 candidates, only one was a girl who managed to secure a perfect score. This is a reflection of the gender disparity that persists in the engineering field, where male students tend to outnumber female students.

The second session of JEE Main 2023 saw a total of 9,31,334 students registering for the exam, out of which 8,83,367 students appeared. The overall attendance in the second session was an impressive 94.83 per cent.

The first session of JEE Main 2023 was held from January 24 to February 1, and it recorded the highest-ever attendance of 95.8 per cent. In the first session, 20 students managed to score a perfect 100 percentile.

Combining both sessions, a total of 6,29,000 students registered for the JEE Main 2023 exam, out of which 5,94,013 students appeared in both sessions. Interestingly, five candidates identified themselves as “third gender,” but only three of them appeared in both sessions.

Looking back at the previous year, in 2022, 24 candidates scored a perfect 100 percentile in the overall merit list based on their performance in both session 1 and session 2. Out of these 24 candidates, only two were girls. The gender gap in engineering entrance exams is a persistent issue that needs to be addressed.
